The Course Marshal’s primary responsibility is to ensure play on the course proceeds in a manner that mirrors starting times on the first tee. Marshals accomplish this by continually monitoring the golf course and educating players in the many ways wasting time can be avoided. The objective of the Marshaling Program is the elimination of excessively long playing time, and effective Marshaling will help to accomplish that goal.
In addition to player control, the Marshal supports the maintenance staff in course setup and facility maintenance, ensures that the Course Regulations are observed, helps players understand the specific local rules, and deals with any emergencies that may arise.
